2. Bound before we met

Author's POV

Meanwhile, in Mumbai...

Armaan was on his way home after a long, exhausting day filled with back-to-back meetings and responsibilities.

As his car pulled up in front of the Rajvanshi mansion, he stepped out, fatigue written all over his face.

A grand drive away of mansion lined with meticulously trimmed hedges and illuminating by soft golden lights, led to the entrance - massive double doors carved from dark oak and adorned with intricate gold inlays . Inside , the foyer boasted a sweeping staircase with a wrought - iron railing, it's steps polished to perfection. A crystal chandelier hang above. Casting a warm glow over to table floors.

Each room whispered of wealth and refinement: a library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a living room with plush velvet furniture and a crackling fireplace, and a dinning hall fit for royalty , where a long mahogany table stood beneath another dazzling chandelier. The scent of fresh roses and a expensive Cologne lingered in the air, adding to the intoxicating ambiance.

The outdoor space was just as enchanting. An infinity pool sparkled beneath the moonlight, merging seamlessly with the horizon, while a private garden bloomed with exotic flowers, their fragrance carried by the cool night breeze. Beyond the terrace, a secluded pathway led to a hidden beach, where waves whispered secrets of the shore.

Without wasting a moment, he walked straight inside and made his way upstairs to his room.

The centerpiece of the room was a grand ,custome made king-sized bed, draped in the finest Egyptian cotton and framed by a carved mahogany headboard with a built in ambient lighting. Smart glass walls could shift clear to frosted at the touch of button, offering privacy or an uninterrupted view of the starlite sky. Beneath the bed, a hidden heating system ensured the perfect level of warmth, while a voice controlled lighting system allowed for mood setting with simple command.

A concealed doorway led to a private study and lounge , where leather-bound books lined illuminated shelves, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system transformed the space into a personal cinema at the touch of a button. A hidden bar, stocked with rare vintages and a premium spirits, slid out from the wall with a simple voice command.

Every inch of the room was designed for ultimate comfort, technology and exclusivity-perfect for someone who lived In the fast lane but still craved a private world of luxury and tranquility.

After freshening up, Armaan came down to the main hall where the rest of the family was already seated for dinner. He quietly took his place at the table.

Manish: "How were your meetings today?"

Armaan: "They went well, Dad. The deal should be finalized soon."

Manish: "Good. Meet me in the study after dinner. There's something I need to discuss with you."

Armaan: "Alright, Papa."

As the dining hall filled with the usual chatter and laughter of Rajveer and Ridhima, dinner continued smoothly. Once done, Armaan excused himself and headed toward the study.

---

Inside the Study Room

Armaan: "Yes, Papa. I'm here."

Manish: "Armaan, do you remember our business partner and my dear friend Kunal Singhania?"

Armaan: "Yes, of course."

Manish: "He has a daughter, Kanchan. He wants her to take over his business."

Armaan: "Hmm..."

Manish: "I want you to guide her. No one understands business like you do."

Armaan: "Sure, Papa. When is she arriving?"

Manish: "Tomorrow."

Armaan: "But how will I recognize her?"

Manish pulled out his phone and showed Armaan a picture of Kanchan. As soon as Armaan's eyes met the screen, something shifted. A soft smile tugged at his lips - a look of recognition, like a missing piece of his past had suddenly returned.

Just then, Rajveer burst into the room.

Rajveer: bhaiya business partner banana hai ghoor to aisi raho ho jaise bhabhi banaoge

("Bro, she's your business partner, but the way you're staring at her photo... looks more like you've found your future wife.")

Armaan: mein use bhabhi kyu banaoga??

("Why would I make her my wife?")

Rajveer: bhaiya jis tarah se aap photo ko ghoor rhe the mujhe aapke intentions sahi nhi lag rhe.

("Well, with how intensely you were looking at her, your intentions didn't seem entirely professional.")

Armaan: "Shut up."

Without another word, Armaan stormed off to his room. He closed the door behind him, laid down on his bed, and let his thoughts wander.

---

Armaan's POV

"So ,apka naam kanchan hai ... Kanchan pichli baar to aapko jane diya tha par ab lagta hai kismat bhi hume Milana chahti hai iss bar nhi jane dunga...my precious"

("So, your name is Kanchan... Last time, I let you go. But not this time. Maybe fate wants us to meet again. This time, I won't let you slip away... my precious.")

Flashback

2 year's ago

The rain poured down in relentless sheets as Armaan stepped out of his sleek black Bugatti, frustration evident in his sharp gaze. His car had broken down in the middle of nowhere-an inconvenience he never tolerated. The mighty Armaan singh Rajvanshi, billionaire mafia king, stranded like a common man. It was absurd.

He clenched his jaw and glanced around. The desolate highway stretched into the distance, but a dim light flickered a few meters away. He sighed, shaking his head. With no other option, he pulled the hood of his coat over his head, shadowing his face, and strode toward it.

The neon sign above the entrance buzzed in protest as he pushed open the door. It was a small but elegant café, its warm glow in stark contrast to the storm raging outside. And then he saw her.

Kanchan.

She sat by the window, one hand resting on her chin, the other idly stirring a cup of coffee. She was mesmerizing-dark, stormy eyes that spoke of secrets, lips curled in an expression of complete indifference. Dressed in an ivory silk blouse and high-waisted pants, she exuded an air of effortless power, a woman who bowed to no one.

Armaan's world tilted.

For the first time in his life, he felt something foreign-obsession. He had seen the most beautiful women, had the most powerful at his beck and call, yet none had ever held his attention like this. It wasn't just her beauty; it was the attitude, the untouchable aura around her. She looked like someone who played by her own rules. And Armaan singh Rajvanshi loved a challenge.

Kanchan's eyes flickered toward him, assessing. Unlike others who quivered under his gaze, she held his stare without a hint of fear. If anything, amusement danced in her eyes, as if she knew exactly what he was thinking.

"You look lost," she mused, taking a sip of her coffee.

Armaan smirked, though his face remained partially hidden beneath the shadow of his hood. "And you look like you own the world."

She tilted her head. "Maybe I do."

His smirk widened. Interesting. Very interesting.

For the first time in years, Armaan found himself intrigued. He had been trapped by circumstances tonight-but now, he knew he was trapped by something far more dangerous.

Her.

---

Author's POV

The night passed slowly - one heart eagerly anticipating a reunion, the other anxious about a new beginning.

---

Morning - Kanchan's Side

Steam curled in the air as Kanchan stepped out of the shower, droplets glistening on her skin like morning dew.

She slipped into crisp white pants paired with a sleek brown top and matching overcoat. A golden watch adorned her right wrist, perfectly complimented by white shoes and a luxurious brown Gucci bag .

The clock read 7:00 AM. Her flight was at 8:00. She didn't waste time. After a light breakfast, she left for the airport.

Upon boarding, Kanchan took her seat and settled in. The flight landed at 10:25, and soon she was outside, greeted by the Mumbai sun and a waiting driver.

Kanchan's POV

The driver was already there. I took the keys from him and asked him to leave. I don't like anyone else driving my car, especially in front of me.

Now, I'm on my way to the Rajvanshi Empire... It's about a 30-minute drive.

I reached the building and walked through its grand entrance.

Kanchan: "Excuse me, could you tell me the way to Mr. Armaan Singh Rajvanshi's office?"

Employee: "4th floor, ma'am."

Kanchan: "Thank you."

---

Author's POV

Back at the Rajvanshi mansion, Armaan was getting ready for work. Today, he felt a strange excitement coursing through his veins - an anticipation that couldn't be ignored.

At the office, he headed straight to the elevator. As the doors opened, time seemed to slow.

There she stood.

Kanchan.

In front of him.

The same girl who had haunted his thoughts for two years.

For a moment, Armaan forgot how to breathe.

Kanchan: "Hello, gentlemen."

Armaan remained silent, his eyes fixed on her like she was an illusion that might disappear if he blinked.

Kanchan: mujhe nhi pata tha MR. Rajvanshi gunge logo ko bhi job dete hai such a kind person.

("Didn't know the Rajvanshi Empire employed mute people. How kind of them.")

Armaan: meim gunga nhi hu

("I'm not mute.")

Kanchan:" hnn to bolo na. Bhagwan ne ye zabaan bolne ke liye hi di hai

("Then speak. That's what God gave us a voice for, isn't it?")

Before he could respond, the lift jolted to a stop, its lights flickering before dimming into a heavy silence.

Trapped inside were just the two of them-Armaan and Kanchan-alone in that narrow, suffocating space

Kanchan's POV

Ugh, I've been wearing these heels since morning. My feet are aching, and now this stupid elevator is stuck. Looks like I'll have to take these off.

Just as she bent to slip out of her heels, she heard Armaan's voice.

Armaan: "I thought your height was... average."

Kanchan: "Excuse me, Mr. Mute, my height is average! Ab tum complain ke parathe kha khakar khambe jaise ho rhe ho to mein kya karu".

(my height is average! Just because you've been devouring complaint parathas and grown into a pole doesn't mean it's my fault.")

Armaan: "Excuse me- complain ke parathe? Kaun khata hai?"

(complain parathas? Who even eats that?"(

Kanchan:" mujhe kya pata tum khate hoge tabhi to khambe jaise ho rhe hu".

("How would I know? Maybe you did! That's why you're turning into a skyscraper.")

She rolled her eyes, muttering, "Oh god, when will this lift open?"

Armaan said softly, almost a whisper, "I hope it never does."

Kanchan: "What?"

Armaan: "I mean... don't worry, it's probably just a technical glitch. It'll open soon."

Kanchan: "tumhara boss to bada kanjoos dikh rha hai dekho bagadbille se ek lift bhi achi company ki nhi lagwayi gyi".

("Your boss must be such a cheapskate. Look at this elevator! He didn't even bother with a decent company.")

Armaan's POV

She clearly doesn't recognize me... but the way she just called me a 'cheapskate alley cat' was somehow the cutest insult I've ever heard.

Just then, the elevator doors opened. A few employees stood outside, greeting him with a polite, "Good morning, Sir."

Without looking back, Armaan walked out and headed straight toward his cabin.

Kanchan: "Why are they greeting him like that? Is he some sort of manager or something?"

Employee: "No, ma'am. That's Mr. Armaan Singh Rajvanshi. The CEO of this company."

Kanchan's eyes widened.

Kanchan: "Oh crap... I'm doomed."

Narrator's POV

An employee walked up to her.

Employee: "Ma'am, Sir has called you to his cabin."

Kanchan: "Where is it?"

Employee: "Straight ahead, then take a left. It's right there."

Kanchan (muttering to herself): Abe mene isko isko muh par bagadbilla bol diya kahin ye papa se shikayat na kar de . I know kanchan singhaniya kisi ke baap se nhi darti but apne se to darti hai yr

(I called him a damn alley cat to his face! What if he complains to Dad? No, no... Kanchan Singhania isn't afraid of anyone's father. But she's terrified of her own...)

Meanwhile, in his cabin, Armaan couldn't stop thinking about her. It was as if Kanchan had cast a spell over him, occupying his mind and heart completely. A rare, soft smile lingered on his face-one that had no place on the usually icy-cold features of Armaan Singh Rajvanshi.

Yes, he was smiling. The same man who was known for his stern and emotionless demeanor looked like a love-struck fool-all because of her.

Kanchan finally reached the door to his cabin and knocked.

Kanchan: "May I come in, Mr. Rajvanshi?"

Armaan, with a teasing smirk: "Mr. Rajvanshi... or should I say, Bagadbilla? Sometimes even elevators face technical issues, Kanchan. After all, they're machines."

Kanchan, smiling stiffly: "Sorry, Mr. Rajvanshi."

Armaan, murmuring under his breath: "Steals my heart and then says sorry."

Kanchan: "Sorry? What was that?"

Armaan: "Nothing. By the way, I must admit... 'Bagadbilla' sounded strangely nice coming from your mouth."

Kanchan, more composed now: "Maybe we should talk business? I think that's what I'm here for."

Armaan: "Of course."

They discussed work for a while. Once done, Kanchan asked for directions to her own cabin and began walking there.

On the way, she bumped into someone.

Rajveer: "Hello, Kanchan."

Kanchan: "Sorry, I don't think I recognize you."

Rajveer: "Oh! I'm Rajveer Singh Rajvanshi. Armaan's younger brother and CEO of Rajvanshi industries"

Kanchan: "Ohh... so you're the bagadbilla's's brother."

Rajveer, puzzled: "bagadbilla?"

Kanchan: "Your brother. Who else? With those sharp eyes and that wild look-he totally fits the name."

Rajveer, laughing: "Wow, that actually suits him."

Kanchan: "Right? I think so too."

Rajveer, a bit hesitant: "Friends?"

Kanchan: "Well, you don't seem like a khadusmaan, so sure. Friends. Okay, gotta run-lots of work!"

Rajveer: "Alright, bye!"

Rajveer walked toward Armaan's cabin. Armaan, still lost in thoughts of Kanchan, quickly straightened up when he noticed his brother coming.

Armaan, murmuring: If this idiot sees me like this, he'll scream it out to half the world.

Rajveer: "Bhaiya... Kanchan's even more beautiful than her pictures. If you're not interested, I'd like to give it a shot. We're already friends now."

Armaan gave him a look so intense, it could've killed him on the spot.
